Social events: Will be organized by the Faculty Societies which are very active - expect BBQs, Pub Crawls, Paintballing, Skiing - all sorts.
Orientation events: Will take place in the form of "lectures" with the faculty staff - these are casual and goes through the administrative side of the course.
Tours of the buildings that your faculty uses, will probably take place with your personal tutor, and his/her fellow tutees.
Look out for people wearing yellow sweaters will giant lollypops that say "Help! I'm Lost" - they are your information point during the first couple of weeks, and should be able to help you get from place to place.
