Computing Personal Statement Example 8
Computers, computers, computers is the passion that has always been within me ever since I first has the chance to use a computer. I just didn’t want to come of the computer; I have wanted to expand my knowledge of ICT. With the rapid increase of technology being used at every aspect of life, being able to have the knowledge of computing and knowing the information stored in these great machines will put be at the heart of my passion.
I believe computers will only become a larger part of the future world and needed in the working industry. I have enjoyed studying ICT in my A Levels as every part of the course has increased my knowledge in this field and I have gained a wide range of skills that I can use further in my degree at university.
I have mostly enjoyed learning and using different computer software’s for example database has been a keen interest to me and I have well enjoyed studying this and still enjoying it. This is why I feel that the computing course I want to enrol in is the right course for me, I believe this because it would be wrong for me not to go higher into my field of education, and with the enjoyment I am gaining in this course I feel I must go higher.
My qualifications have shown I have the ability to backup my passion in this field with grades AB in AS Level and a similar prediction this year, I have also been involved in extra Key Skills such as Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy Tests which I passed and also CoPE (Certificate of Personal Effectiveness) at Level 3 which I am currently doing.
I have always been an easy going, energetic and passionate individual in my studies and extracurricular achievements. I have always been group participant and involved with physical sports from boxing and swimming where individual skills, fitness and mentality is required, to cricket and football where team work is the key objective and learning how to work with others and communicate ideas within the team.
In 2009 I was involved in a local Koran recital competition held in my city mosque which I came first in, enabling me to progress to the national level. The following year, 2010, I again participated and won first at local this time I came third in the same national competition. This shows my motivation and determination that I have at high levels to compete and achieve my goals.
These activities and competitions were all managed alongside my studies and this also taught me how to balance lifestyle with my studies and time management skills.
These skills have also been developed through my work placements. In year 10 I spent 2 weeks on work experience at Moses School Wear in Rochdale. There I learnt how to communicate with customers and assisted them regarding product choice. This strengthened my confidence in team work with other members of staff. I also leant about health and safety issues in the work place.
After finishing year 11 and during summer holidays, I gained voluntary employment at Alkrington Wholesalers in Manchester. This was an office based job where I worked at my desk managing phone calls and speaking to other professional businesses and making trade deals between the companies. I was also given responsibility to handle business accounts and to contact suppliers negotiating deals and finding other potential distributors.
My current employment is for an online business RebelSimCard (Solutions Point ltd), where I work in the technical support and sales team.
There I work with other team members together and occasionally help in advertising and managing the company website. I am known to be trust worthy and responsible for the tasks that are given to me. I balance my studies with work and this has taught me how to live an independent life and taking personal responsibility to make me a more mature and hard working student.
I also believe that I can devote time and effort to follow my dreams as I am eagerly waiting the day I can start my career in a field where my passion is.
