My arrival back at Essex
Date: 07/01/2004
The first day back of the new year is surprisingly similar to the last
Am now back at Essex even though term doesn't officially start until next Monday. The reason I came back so early is I have an exam tomorrow morning - not the sort of thing I could miss. My dad drove me back in the afternoon and after loading all my stuff back into my room we decided to go out for a coffee before he went back home.
The campus was defiantly much quieter, we saw very few people around, and many of the lights in communal sections such as kitchen and hallways were off. There were only a couple of places on campus open - the SU bar and SX Express. We decided to go to the bar which was a bit more crowded than the rest of campus, there were quite a few parents around - so I knew I wasn't the only one coming back this early.
After my dad left it was very quiet - none of my 3 other flatmates were around and none of the people on the two floors above us were around either. This was probably the perfect environment for doing revision, but I ended up feeling a bit lonely. Most of my friends across campus weren't back either, so I logged onto the net and chatted to a few people.
The rest of the day was pretty much uneventful. I went shopping, having only left 1 tub of butter in my fridge and nothing else. The rest of the day was spent doing a small amount of revision for my computer science exam and watching TV programmes downloaded from the university filesharing network.
