Why do you want to study this subject at university?
Admissions tutors are often anxious to know your reasons for wanting to study their subject at university, and want to test your commitment to it for the next 3 or 4 years (longer if you are applying for Medicine or Veterinary Science).
Some of your reasons might include:
- You enjoy it (choose several specific aspects to focus on and why you enjoy them)
- You are interested in current and future developments
- You have a particular career path in mind
- You have been influenced by personal experiences
Make sure you know your personal statement inside-out for this question.
It’s also worth expanding on any reasons mentioned in your personal statement if you have more information you would like to add.
Jot down any additional notes, and make sure you’re familiar with them.
This is one of the most important questions you’ll be asked at your university interview, so be prepared to answer as fully as possible.
