Marketing Personal Statement Example 2
A new breed has arrived! Crafted in imagination, intelligence and creativity, I am the ultimate accessory for the modern day Marketing. I know that this is a fast growing industry that is highly competitive; but I am guided by my dreams, instinct and my desires and these encourage me to aim for higher academic achievements.
Children of African descent are usually expected to aspire to become doctors and lawyers, so I always concealed my desire to work in the marketing sector. But as I grew up it became a part of me.
My decision to pursue a career marketing is due to my desire to work in either the media or business industry and about my pursuit for happiness and self fulfilment.
I have a gift for deciphering things, putting my ideas across and being original. These qualities influenced me to study Media Studies during my secondary education in Years 10 and 11.
Media enabled me to develop very good analytical skills, and encouraged me to apply creativity to my work.
In my pursuit for a career in marketing, I studied politics, psychology, sociology and law at AS and A2 levels. Although all these subjects are not directly related to marketing, they have contributed to my knowledge and ability to do this course by teaching me invaluable information about society and the way the human mind works, and improved my communication, research and essay writing skills.
These skills accompanied by my disciplinary behaviour, ability to adhere to laws and respect others, will make me a valuable member of your team
Over the years, I have partaken in a number of drama showcases (the Beckenham Festival), and school learning schemes such as Mini Enterprise and Industry Challenge.
In each of these activities, I was required to express my artistic and creative attributes; these were done commendably.
Another interesting activity that I have participated in was a task known as "industry challenge". For this, we were required to create and promote a new ice cream brand by a catering company. This exercise taught me the importance of market research, the power of words and reaffirmed my decision to study marketing.
Many stress their love for reading but to me reading is not just a hobby, it is an activity that I am extremely passionate about. Since entering Secondary School, I have read numerous books, but only a few of the have left an imprint on my mind. Among these are Tell Me Your Dreams, Chinese Cinderella and Hercuile Poirot's Christmas.
I love and admire the way the blurbs capture my imagination and the illustrations that disclose just enough to persuade the potential readers to buy or read the book, yet still retaining its mystery. This in my opinion is a form of marketing, because the authors are selling their book through the subtle use of psychology.
What if I do not succeed in my chosen career path? I have looked through a host of prospectuses and they have all said that "this subject will equip the individual with skills that are valuable in several industries". I also intend to progress onto postgraduate level in order to specialise in a particular area of marketing such as international marketing.
