Business Computing Personal Statement Example

I anticipate furthering my studies in the field of business. Business involves analysing every detail before making a competent decision. Also, logic and objectivity is needed as everything has a set order and method.

Business appeals to me as it clearly links to all financial and business activities of life. Political, economical, sociological and technological aspects of the way we live today have an element of promoting day to day activities in it.

My passion for the subject expanded when I chose business studies, mathematics and financial services as part of my A-level education. Although these subjects are somewhat demanding, I find them extremely interesting. I believe that a degree combining both these aspects is the correct choice for me.

I am confident that a course in business information technology satisfies both these interests. I will be looking forward to learning the aspect of how technology can be use in business. I have chosen to apply for a degree course, which combines theoretical and practical aspects of business and IT together, with an emphasis on practical work.

My part time job as a customer service assistant in McDonald's has provided an opportunity to work as a team co-operating with others and at the same time being independent. Often, I have been able to work on my own initiative, which I have enjoyed immensely as it has allowed me to use my own ideas and thoughts.

I have acquired knowledge on cashing up, how customers feel, how the business achieves their aims and objectives and how they promote their business. This will serve me well at University as I am likely to come across topics relating to this area of experience.

I'm a strong-willed person who thinks she can achieve anything with discipline and hard work. This will motivate me to attain higher goals and become accomplished in the future.

Certain skills I have developed are accuracy, speed and consistency. I have been able to tackle difficult, time consuming questions within the minimum time given and I think at the moment I am still improving my team working skills especially when I went on an educational trip to Aberdovery in Wales for 3 days for an Outward Bound activity. In my spare time I enjoy a wide range of sporting activities.

These include: badminton, reading, shopping with friends, taking little kids out and table tennis to name but a few. I am hoping to carry on these activities whilst conducting my studies at university through this I learnt to quickly assimilate the cultures different people represented. This will help at university as different ethnic groups are represented and I can speak two other languages (Yoruba, Igbo) fluently.

I consider myself to be a hard working outgoing individual. I am looking forward to challenge of university life, both socially and mentally. I strongly believe that my years at university will be enjoyable and those that I will remember for the rest of my life. Most of all I am hoping that my chosen subject will give me a strong foundation to take upon a successful career inside the business world.
