Aerospace Engineering Personal Statement Example 4
As a year 13 student at Greenwood Dale School, Nottingham, I am in the final year of my A-Level studies.
My current subjects are: Maths, Physics and ICT and so far I have been quite successful with my schoolwork and in my exams. In maths I did a project on probabilities and this year I am doing a project in mechanics.
In physics I did a project in Hooke's law and this year I have chosen the specific heat capacity project. In ICT I designed a record and sales system and this year I have to design a similar system but it will be far more complex then the first one. By doing all these projects I have gained personal satisfaction and come to know how hard and complex the real world is
My highest grades are in maths and this is where my real skills lie, and because of this I have decided to follow a course in aerospace engineering.
Aerospace engineering has fascinated me from an early age and that is why it has always been my dream profession.
I think this will be a good career for me because I have is the ability to solve mathematical and physical problems. I feel that higher education will sharpen and develop these skills further.
This subject will not only allow me to investigate new technologies but it will also give me the opportunity to develop and focus on one of my genuine interests
My interest was heightened when I went to an army base with my uncle who is base commander. I was shown and had explained to me everything about the C-130, an old plane but it was source of inspiration. After that, I attended many lectures about aircraft structures and engines
These lectures have given me a good understanding of the kind of course I want to follow
I have lived in many different parts of the world making me a person who can easily adapt to any environment. This has also enabled me to speak a total of four languages. These languages are: Dutch, German, English and Urdu
I have also learned to be keen, conscientious, hard working and a reliable person. I am also a good timekeeper and enjoy meeting people
I get on well with people and can work well either on my own or as a part of a team. Before moving to the United Kingdom I lived in Belgium.
There I was and still am a regular reader of many science and technology magazines such as Pc Network which kept me up to date of the latest developments in the world of computers. I also used to attend an evening school to learn French
I have worked in a departmental store for two years in part time employment. There I worked as an assistant manager. My duties included handling and banking money, operating till and giving other employees instructions. Here I learnt about leadership, realistic teamwork and financial constraints.
I have also worked as a telephonist. I have also worked for seven weeks in the same departmental store as a manager, by working here I truly realised about responsibility. Here everything was virtually my responsibility
My hobbies include: reading, listening to music, playing sport and computing.
The time that I spend on my computer is mostly performing experiments on it. I work out at the local fitness centre and I am looking for a good boxing club to join. I play football and cricket very often, usually in my spare time. The sports I enjoy the most are football and cricket. The sport in which I am best at is badminton
I hope my application will be successful, as I know I have the potential to do well at higher education. I am sure that your university will help me able to become something and someone recognisable.

Ok, its a start but from reading the very beginning it got me bored and I started to skim the whole thing - not a good thing. The beginning isn't well structured indicating a weak use of english. You need something gripping and catchy to get the reader to take interest and NOT skim the thing! Apart from that don't worry too much on the middle it is the beginning and ending phase that is crucial.
