25/07/10                       Welcome to our new CV Doctor!

Studential has recently recruited its own CV Doctor to coincide with the development of our new Jobs section - we have launched the CV Doctor forum at studentdiscussion.co.uk, which registered members can view and post in.

Dr Elizabeth Bacchus is a Career Coach and Founder of The Successful CV Company, a leading UK CV and cover letter writing service.

Elizabeth will be available in the forum to answer all your questions about CV’s, cover letters and applications, providing advice on how to really maximise your potential in the job seeking market and stand out from the crowd.

You will find the CV Doctor forum as a sub forum underneath the Jobs and Careers forum. We hope you find the resource useful and helps you land that dream job!

With A2 exams almost over, we've published our guide to A level results day for 2010.

Here you can find out what to do on results day (this year the 19th August), what happens if you've met your firm and/or insurance offer, or have missed both of them, plus information on any other things that could happen on results day.

So if you're worried you've under-performed in your exams, we detail the options available to try and set your mind at rest - whatever happens on results day, you are certain to start university in the autumn one way or the other!

We are pleased to announce the launch of our brand new personal statement editing service, where you can get your personal statement reviewed and edited by a professional.

For a small fee, we will help with grammar and punctuation, sentence structure, articulate your skills and strengths, ensure all appropriate topics have been adequately covered, and a whole lot more to make sure you present yourself to admissions tutors in the best possible light.

Extra allows you to apply for courses between the beginning of February and the end of June that still have places available.

We've now published a guide to student banking to help answer any questions you may have about choosing a student account before you set off to university. We tell you what to look for when researching what the high street banks have to offer and how to make the most out of your money whilst studying.

18/10/09                    Studential Cookbook - fully launched

Today sees the full launch of our cookbook - the recipes section is now available to our users, with ideas for all meals, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert and snacks. Our cookbook caters for a wide range of tastes, with recipes for poultry, seafood, salad, pancakes, Thai, pasta, Indian and vegetarian, plus a whole lot more!

So whether you're a novice or pro student cook, we're sure you'll find our collection of recipes will come in handy for whipping up meals. Whilst we will continue to add to it to make it even bigger, you can help by submitting your recipes to us at recipes@studential.com. We will then put them up in the cookbook as soon as possible and, of course, credit you on the page.

We now have an article on finding your accommodation before going to university. This is one of the important things you need to have sorted out before you start your course, and we're here to help with the options available to you and what you need to consider when applying for university owned or private rented accommodation.

We'll be adding more to this section in the near future, though we're sure the current information will be a useful overview to all prospective undergraduates.

23/08/09                       New Studential Cookbook

We are happy to announce the publication of the first half of our own Studential Cookbook. This provides information and advice on all the essential aspects of student cooking, including how to save money on shopping, nutrition, methods of cooking, an introduction to herbs and spices, kitchen hygiene and what utensils to take with you.

We will be adding the recipes section in the near future, containing great ideas for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert and snacks!

22/08/09                 Over 900 personal statements!

At the last count taken yesterday, Studential now houses 919 personal statements. This enforces our position as the holder of the largest collection of personal statement samples on the web. This is all because our visitors have continued to kindly donate their personal statement to help new prospective students applying to university.

So we would like to say a very big thank you to all our users who have submitted their statement, and hope you find the site a friendly and useful resource.

20/08/09                      New resources section

We've changed things around a little and moved our directory to the new resources section. This is so we can incorporate a new branch to our site, covering books related to applying to university and other aspects of student life. Keep checking back to read our reviews of useful literature, which will start appearing soon.

04/08/09                  Updated interviews section

Our university interviews section has been revamped with bright new panels, making it easier to navigate and find the information you need. We have also added a couple of new sections on medicine and veterinary science interviews - these direct our users to all the interview webpages published by the universities that offer these particular courses. In the near future, we aim to add further sections with more detailed advice on physiotherapy, nursing and social sciences interviews.

We are thrilled to announce that Sunday 31st May marked the launch of our brand new website!

Our fresh new design incorporates a clean, simple layout that allows our visitors to quickly locate information with fewer steps. We have used vibrant colours and an easy-to-use, colour coded navigation menu to create a visually aesthetic environment that enhances user experience.

Those who remember our old site will see we have expanded our content considerably to include comprehensive, up-to-date information and advice on other aspects of education, including choosing A level subjects and planning a gap year.

We have also updated our original content on writing a UCAS personal statement and attending university interviews.  Some of Studential is still undergoing construction, so make sure to drop by regularly to check out new pages that will be published daily.

We are excited to present the new-look Studential to all current and prospective students, and aim to provide useful, accessible resources to aid with those important decisions, challenges and experiences encountered in further and higher education.
